Currently the best case for the Acer A500

This case is genuinely made by Acer. The quality is comparable to the iPad 2 case Apple makes. It fits the tablet with resolute determination which made it a bit of a struggle to get on. On the sides, it has slot for each of the dissimilar ports (but no slot for the microsd card). It has a hinged cover that attaches with velcro. Using a velcro closure rather of a magnetic one takes away from the aesthetic calibers of an other than as supposed or expected good looking case. The case protects both the screen and the back of the tablet with cutouts for the cameras and sensors. Overall it’s one of the better accessaries that I’ve seen from a manufacturer.

When the hinged cover is folded back, it slides into a velcro lined tab to form a stand, other than as supposed or expected the cover hangs loosely. The stand may be used to either horizontally at an angle or propped up vertically. The main drawback you’ll find is when using it in the horizontal mode (which will in all probability be most of the time). To use horizontally, the actual tablet is oriented upside down. Normally this isn’t a problem as Honeycomb doesn’t have hardware buttons for Home, Return and Options and so the display just rotates around. It becomes an issue when you use an app that only operates in landscape mode. In this case, the screen will orient back around just for that app and will operate as if the tablet is right side up. This also means that the volume controls are reversed if the orientation lock is turned on. Hopefully, the issue will be fixed with the update to Android 3.1 that’s scheduled for late June, 2011. In addition, when propped up in the vertical mode, the tablet have a tendancy to slide down inside the case and as the case loosens over time, will partially cover the front facing camera. If you want to hold the case with the cover folded flat versus the back, you’re out of luck. There’s no way for the cover to be fixed to the case except in the stand mode and if you’re keeping it right side up, the cover is hinged at the bottom so you can’t even rely on gravity to hold it in place.

Overall, even with the drawbacks listed above, I think it’s the best case for Acer A500. Is it worth the price? Considering the current alternatives, yes.

Does it is job.

OK. The protective case is just a thin case that turns into a stand. I don’t think it is worth $40 tho. More like $25. But it keeps me from having to hold my Iconia. Then it makes it having little impact to browse the net, play games, video chat and take pictures. Overall it does what it suppose to do. You will still need a sleeve or something to keep the dust and etc out.

Hard to get the tablet into the case but thats ok – I’m not planning to take it out frequently.
The material is decent, a little flimsier than I expected though. The velcro is in truth cheap looking, they ought to have used a magnet. Two minutes after I purchased it, my room mate called it ghetto which bummed me out giving careful consideration to it was $40! You will have to see the choices out there for Ipad 2 for $40. I’m not expecting the same choice but I am expecting the same quality.
When using it in the stand setting the material is a little soft to help itself so it have a tendancy to bounce around a little when I’m prodding using the tablet.

This case must in truth be priced at $20 I think. It will unquestionably keep it protected from scratches though. I would return it if there were better options. But they’re aren’t.
