Agreed, the extra you compensate for the brand name may go to make sure high quality products. But there are also a lot of littler companies that make outstanding machines too. The good thing with regards to buying from these companies is that you do not have to remunerate for the brand name and thence you may end up saving rather a bit. Also called white-box notebooks, a good deal of of these machines may likewise be assembled at home.

Laptops for $399 ? Lately, you might have seen laptops being advertised at what may appear to be ridiculously low prices. Well, you might be competent to buy laptops for $399. But just do not suppose to be buying a feature rich laptop at that price. Here is a list of reasons why the laptop may be very cheap …

3 months warranty rather of 1 year : The warranty amount of time may be as little as 3 months rather of the more satisfactory 1 year warranty. Would that be alright with you ?

256 MB RAM rather of 1 GB RAM : The size of the RAM may be more indispensable than the processor speed. A computer with 256 MB RAM may not even be capable to run a good deal of of the standard presently employed software.

CD-ROM rather of CD-RW or DVD-RW : That means you will not be competent to write to CDs or DVDs – necessary functions that each computer user may require to do.

In case you feel these tradeoffs are acceptable, then you might want to consider buying these functional laptops.

Rebates on laptop computers : Some manufacturers may offer rebates if you buy peculiar laptop models. While these rebates may look very, very attractive, you may likewise want to see if you will have to buy software of hardware as part of the rebate offer. Especially if you do not intend to buy further and added hardware or software.

Also, you might want to see to it that you send the rebate paper work on time.

4Excellent Monitor
By R. King
I was in the market for a new lcd/led monitor that would replace an aging 19″ samsung crt monitor that has seen it’s best days yrs ago… There are sooo a heap of monitors to review that it’ll bruise your brain – but Amazon ‘s website makes that as easy/simple and helpful.
I in the long run chosen this monitor for it’s specs, features, design and Amazon’s great price(under $150)design. It was a danger as I wasn’t intimate with the brand – but after much exploration at a great deal of dissimilar websites when it comes to reliability, client satisfaction, company strength in the industry, etc…
It’s beautifully sculpted/designed. Weighs only in regards to 8 lbs. The connection to the base enables you to adjust the monitor to your optimal looking at angle from -5 to 20 degrees as well as swivel left or right. Instruction manual was very basic using for the most part picturegraphs to assemble the base to the monitor, operation buttons (heat-sensor touch), website access for membership, product reg and warranty. Assembly was simple and only required a coin to tighten 2 screws in place. It comes with the power cable/small transformer, vga and hdmi connects. Monitor screen is matte (great for near windows)and looking at real estate is HUGE equated to my old 19″ CRT!

I connected to my 4 yr-old desktop with supplied vga cable and works beautifully right out of the carton! I’m still playing around with the solution settings and adjustment buttons, menus, etc… but I have checked it out watching internet, netflix, etc… I’ll add a great deal of more to this review once I’ve had numerous burn time on it.

3 weeks now since I’ve had this monitor…
Adjustments for optimal looking at are easy with thermal buttons once you get the hang of it.
It’s a great monitor and it’s performance is worthy of mentioning.

BUT

I had in the first place given this monitor “5 stars” but have now downgraded it to “4 stars” because of a visual botheration I’ve noted on the screen that hasn’t resolved. I’ve cited a “dirty translucent smudge”-type spot with regards to the size of a thumbprint on the screen… at firstborn I thought it would clean off – but it hasn’t with anything I’ve used. I don’t think it’s a pixel problem as images show through the spot. When you look almost at the spot at dissimilar angles – it closely disappears and yet it’s there… Maybe it’s inbetween the matrix and the screen? It’s most noticable looking at a light or white background as it isn’t noticable unless it’s a very light or white background.

I’m not sure that I may take looking at that spot for the next various years – so I’m going to be contacting Amazon with regards to perhaps substituting it for another one within the return timeframe. Stay tuned…
I contacted client service using Amazon’s chat… The “uncleanable smudge” would be considered a defect and I was offered a choice to return the monitor for a refund or I could have it replaced. I like the monitor just fine – so I chose to have it substituted with another one. I was issued a return shipping label with instructions thru email. I thought that this resolved the issue, but when I printed out the return label/info; I was amazed that it said that I was requesting a refund under “action requested” even though Return Details stated I wanted a replacement. I initiated another client service chat – and got a dissimilar person and had to get started again, but it got rather perplexed as it appears the monitor is now sold from an outside source (I purchased it direct from Amazon)which adds shipping charges and the price has gone up $25 since I purchased it… so the only solution offered to get a alternate monitor was to order another one from the outside source, therefore creating assorted new dealings on the creditcard, etc… lots more prospects to get it more messed up… So I decisive that it would be best to cancel all actions, refunds, replacements, etc… and just keep the monitor I have. service was very apologetic for causing any inconvenience to me and credited $20 to my account for accepting the monitor with the defect.
I think that after all was said and done – keeping the existent monitor was best for me… It’s not a functional problem and is only a annoyance when watching very light backgrounds. It’s still an magnificent monitor and performs beautifully… Still a solid 4 stars!

5Fantastic for the price
By Zephyr618
I purchased this to make good use of my graphics cards. The dirt cheap price and impressive specs list left me a little suspicious, but I went in front and purchased it anyway assuming I could just return it if things went bad. I won’t be returning it.

The screen is utterly beauteous and it takes less than a minute to learn how to navigate the menus. I’m a little crazy that the price was lowered without delay after I purchased it but I don’t care because it was still a great deal at my price. It’s paper thin, bright, has nice contrast, is energy efficient, has peculiarly low lag (2ms!), and is set up very easily. For this price, you can’t get anything better (or even anything close!). Even the power button is awesome. It’s not a button at all. It’s just a touch sensible share of the monitor. Just turning the thing on is a pleasant experience.

Pros:
-Full HD with bright screen and high contrast
-Touch sensible buttons with easy and utile menu
-Very thin
-Surprisingly energy efficient
-Priced WAY beneath comparable contest (this is what makes it so terrifi really)

Cons:
-Only comes with VGA cables and an HDMI to DVI cable. That was good for me since my 9800 GTX’s use DVI but this in truth must come bundled with a regular HDMI cable giving careful consideration to it only has a VGA and HDMI port (It has no DVI port, yet it comes with a cable for DVI and not HDMI. I think that’s beauteous dumb). This is the ONLY problem I have
-um… the back of it is white and I didn’t realize that. I guess that’s a con, but it doesn’t bother me.

There are only 2 POSSIBLE improvements that this monitor could use. By possible I in a literal sense mean there are no other ways in which high-end monitors compete with this one. These are: a higher refresh rate (frame rate) and higher max resolution. 60Hz and 1080p is beyond sufficient for most people and a monitor with higher specs in those categories and equivalent specs in each other way would cost around $400, and the only humans who would ever use a higher refresh rate or solution are hardcore gamers and tech fanciers because video games are the only thing that subsist above 1080p and 60 frames per second. Most HD videos never come close to that framerate yet alone any higher. This monitor in a literal sense has everything person could need and it’s so wondrously cheap. Not buying this would be a mistake.

210 Million Contrast… Don’t Be Fooled! Just an OK Monitor
By TruthBTold
To set this in stone, I’m reviewing the ASUS ML228H LED LCD monitor.

I’m normally not a negative Nancy but I do like to see merchandise veer towards perfection. There are a few difficultnesses I have with this monitor. First there is a smudge on the right side of the screen, it is in regards to the size of a thumb print. This was likewise pointed out by the reviewer “R. King”. I’m not sure if this problem is model wide or not but it is kind of annoying (it shows up on white screens… the majority of web sites have white backgrounds). The next problem I have is that this monitor has uneven back lighting. This may be seen on banners that go throughout your entire screen. The left side of the monitor screen is darker than the right side of the monitor screen. This may likewise be confirmed when using paint or photoshop and you fill your entire screen with one color, preferably a darker shade of blue or purple. You will genuinely see a gradient affect going on. Where the color is dark on the left side and gets lighter as it goes to the right.

Another negative I have is this whole BS with contrast inflation. They make it sound as if the contrast is UNBELIEVABLE on this monitor. I mean 10 million is a big number, isn’t it? But it is highly deceptive. It is for dynamic contrast, which the majority of users will not use. Most persons calibrate their monitors to a specific general for greatest or most complete or best possible accuracy. With a 10,000,000:1 contrast symmetry one would think you would be getting the darkest blacks ever witnessed! Don’t let it fool you. I’ve calibrated this monitor with the same software I’ve applied to calibrate my 2010 Plasma TV (AVS HD 709) and the black levels on the plasma are WORLDS detached from this monitor. Although the blacks are better than my older LCD panel (with the older CCFL back lighting) but it is not that much of an improvement! The fact is that the TN panels that are employed in these LCD monitors have hit a road block. They genuinely can’t improve on this panel technology. Better panels are being made for LCDs like IPS panels, which have better watching angles and more precise colors, but they are REALLY expensive. The fact of the matter is that manufacturers are attempting to “hide” the more important number when it comes to contrast symmetry and that is the static contrast ratio. Some manufacturers won’t even give their static ratios out because they aren’t improving. But they may improve the dynamic contrast! But that isn’t making your blacks darker!

Some positives that I have with this monitor is that I love how thin it is! I can’t believe how much they have bettered in this area. I also LOVE the “Splendid” touch (more like “swipe”) controls you use to turn on/off the monitor. It makes it feel genuinely futuristic. The question I have is how authenti is this over a long amount of time of time? Very many times buttons break from being pressed in so frequently. If this engineering science ends up being dependable over years of use, this could be a huge breakthrough in the longevity of electronics. Not just monitors, because I could see this being applied in a great deal of other devices.

I have to make sure I cover this too. This is not an issue with the monitor but if you primary get this monitor and set the solution to 1920 x 1080 and you see black bars around your picture, it is not a defect in the monitor. You need to go into your graphics card application (like ATI’s Catalyst Control Center.. right click your desktop to access it) and change your scaling options. You need to make sure your overscan is set just until your picture fills your entire screen. This will most likely take place when you set the option to Overscan at 0%.

I would say look for something else. Unless you get an unbelievable deal for this monitor. There are better choices out there. Your monitor shouldn’t have smudges or uneven back lighting. Manufacturers must be held to a higher standard!
