Crudup
I bought this printer hoping to use it on Ebay Paypal to print shipping labels. Well it works perfectly as a label printer on Paypal/Ebay. It has saved me a ton of time and worth the money I spent since I ship frequently.

For example in paypal if I have to ship ten orders using the multi shipping tool I print all ten labels at once. You have the option of printing a packing sheet to a regular printer that tells you what is to be packed in each order for the labels just printed. You need to know the weight for each shipment before printing the labels though.

Its appears that the Dymo printer is compatible with Zebra printers. Use the multi shipping tool in Paypal and set your printer to a Zebra 4X6 printer. If you are not using multi shipment in Paypal be sure to set your printer type to thermal and pick one of the Zebra 4X6 printers.

Other reviewers said the printer jams frequently. I have no such problem. What I think may have happened to that reviewer was they did not discard the first labels. Before you install a new roll for the first time you have to remove a small piece of tape from the roll. Unfortunately that tape leaves a sticky residue on one of the exposed labels. If you use that label it will put that same sticky residue in the printer causing labels to stick and jam. Dont take the chance and just get rid of the first 2 or three labels on the roll.

One reviewer said the labels fade with time. Well its a “thermal” printer and almost every device that prints on thermal paper the “ink” fades. Its actually heat the “colors” the paper and that type of paper fades over time. That is a fact of thermal technology not a problem with the printer.

Extra credit: Take those labels you discard from the new roll and put them in direct sunlight for a few days.

Before this, I had multiple Zebra 2844.

For those who ship a lot, the Zebra 2844 (EPL) is the standard with most 4×6 labels made for it. It retails for $100-200 more than this machine, but is available ubiquitously used on ebay in the sub-$100 range. Once you get them up and running, they often print without fail.

However, the 2844′s are a complete pain in the behind to set-up. We’re talking playing with settings and inconsistent software from the manufacturer itself. Sometimes I d/l 3-4 software packages before the 2844 even responded at all, let alone correctly. All this wouldn’t be so bad except on my Windows Desktop, if I so much as unplugged the usb cord to the computer for whatever reason (say I was moving it), and replugged it 5 minutes later in the very same USB slot, the computer wouldn’t remember the printer at all, and the nightmarish set-up process would begin anew. Not acceptable. Maybe this was because the 2844 accepted parallel and serial port input as well, and USB was an afterthought in the design? Whatever the reason, it’s very plug-and-play unfriendly. Also, when the computer went to sleep, the unit needed to be restarted or it would fail to respond. The third defect was that everytime I printed out a shipping label, between 1 and 7 blank labels followed. This wasn’t always the case, but it was when I had to reinstall the driver and I could never figure it out. I experienced these defects on both a 2004 and 2007 manufactured 2844, so I would say these aren’t random issues.

A while back, I got a notebook that replaced my desktop, I would move around, so plugging and unplugging the USB cords became a fact of life, so enter the 4XL. I always liked dymo’s smaller models, they just worked, and this one was no different. You first install the very friendly software (whether d/led or from CD) and then any of their printers and the computer recognizes it without hesitation. I can plug my older Labelwriter 400 or my new 4XL or both and there will be no problems, whether the dymo label software is actively running or not (I use endicia instead). It prints without problem. I never had it jam. Can’t say much more about it.

As to any jamming, I would recommend when installing any new rolls of labels that are sealed at the end with adhesive tape, thow away the labels the tape was on so any adhesive residue never enters the mechanism. That may be a source of the problem people are experiencing.

As for fading, this is a thermal printer and inherent to all thermal printers. Think of receipts as well that fade, as many are of the same technology. However, a nice dark print comes out of this that will last longer than those cheap receipts, so I have no fear shipping items, however long, long term labels for household items may require a second thought. They are affected by direct sunlight the most. Look up thermal printers in wikipedia for more info.

If I had a complaint, it’s the cost of the rolls. Dymo is ridiculously expensive, wanting nearly $0.16 a label. Although 4×6 labels are an industry standard with many makers, the dymo labels are slightly different with a oblong hole between each label, perhaps telling the printer where to stop. I’m not sure. I still have the zebra labels, but I haven’t had a chance to see if they worked in this machine. Dymo warns you not to use any 3rd party labels, but that’s because of profit motive.

However, I see 3rd party compatible labels for this machine at a well known site called labelvalue. An excellent site, I got my zebra labels there for $0.051 (5.1 cents) a label. The dymo compatible labels are much cheaper than the “real thing” at $0.086 (8.6 cents) a label. For a small time operation, not a big difference. Figuring that I was throwing away 1-7 labels on the zebra per print, I still come out ahead.

I just have a small business and ship a dozen items a day. The dymo serves me well. If you ship day and night, and have a desktop dedicated to shipping (where the cords will absolutely never be touched), a zebra may be better, sturdier and cheaper in the long haul.

9 of 9 people found the following review helpful.
Requires labels with index holes
By Handyman
I currently own a Zebra LP 2844 thermal printer to print all my 4×6 shipping labels. Then I bought this Dymo 4XL because it was about $200 cheaper than a brand new zebra and I need to print lots of labels.

After using both units for a couple of days I would say that this Dymo printer is slightly BETTER than Zebra in terms of SPEED and ease of use. Both units seem to be very well built. I have used the zebra for over 4 years without a glitch, time will tell if the dymos are equally welll built.

The single biggest problem with this dymo printer is that it REQUIRES labels with index holes. There is a photo-sensor located on the bottom left of the printer head. Labels without index holes will cause a printing error saying “the printer is out of paper”. The zebras can use labels with or without index holes.

For those who buy cheap third-party labels make sure they are index holed or your printer wont recognize it.
I took out one-star because of this issue. Other than this, the dymo prints great!

Most helpful customer reviews

333 of 349 people found the following review helpful.
WOW!!!
By Daryl Y
I have been considering an Apple computer for a while now, and have been reluctant to buy because of the high price tag, compared to PCs with similar technical specs. For example, a Dell Inspiron All in One with 4GB SDD3 RAM, 500GB hard drive, 2.8Ghz processor, comparable graphics card and larger, brighter 23″ screen retails for 599. For 1199, you can get the same Dell model with a touch screen, 1TB hard drive, 8GB RAM, 1GB video card, and a bunch of other stuff, running Windows 7. That’s twice as much computer, right?

Maybe not. I went into a Best Buy store to play with a Mac, and spent almost two hours comparing this computer to the ones I just mentioned. I ended up buying the Mac, and am entirely convinced that it is well worth the price tag. First of all, even with less RAM, the Mac was faster and performed much better than a tech spec superior PC. It ran several memory draining and intensive applications, like video editing software, iTunes, and web browsers playing video SIMULTANEOUSLY without any noticeable lag. The programs all started up almost instantly, and everything just seemed to work. The PC that had 8 gigs of RAM could not perform all of those tasks at once without slowing down. Second, the Mac doesn’t require a seperate anti-virus software purchase. It’s supposed to be virtually unhackable, and you won’t have like a dozen McAfee processes running in the background to slow your computer down. That peace of mind for internet security alone is worth the extra money to me.

One of my other reservations for buying a Mac was having to use a different operating system, and after years of running Windows, I didn’t want to have to learn how to use a computer again. However, after playing with the Mac even for just a few minutes, I realized that it was very intuitive, and as easy to use as a PC. For example, when you want to print a document on a PC, you click the tab on the upper right hand corner, find “print” and click- same thing as on the Mac. All of the menus are pretty much identical for the word processors and internet browsers, and unless you’re planning on writing or editing the DOS, there isn’t much you’ll have to adapt to.

Finally, the software that comes with this thing is AWESOME. The photo/video software is amazingly useful, and I can’t imagine anything out there that you can buy that is as good as this stock software. There is music editing, and a bunch of other stuff that is just as good as the photo software, and while I haven’t had the opportunity to really try everything out yet, I don’t think I will be disappointed with any of it. To top it off, everyone raves about the customer support you get when you get an apple product. I hope I’ll never have to use it, but it helps to know that Apple stands behind their products. Bottom line is, I’m really happy with my purchase.

*Update Dec 28 2011*
I just read some of the comments on my review, and I just don’t understand why people can be so defensive about why I think this outperformed the PCs that I tried and have used. I can say that I’ve owned dozens of computers in the last two decades, and I don’t think I’ve ever had one that is as solid as this one. I’ve used it for almost a year, and to this date have not had even a SINGLE glitch. All of the programs perform as expected, I have not had problems with passwords or emails being hacked, and I don’t notice any performance degradation. I don’t know or understand technical specs as well as most folks, I don’t need to “mod” my computer or do anything that’s resource draining besides video editing, I’m just an average user. I know that PCs have their strengths over Macs, but as far as what an average user would need, I don’t think it gets any better than a Mac. I’ve tried to find used Macs for my kids room on craigslist, and most go for about 3/4 – 80% RETAIL!!! Show me a PC that gets that kind of resale value. As far as the defensive PC users are concerned, I’m glad that you can buy a product that you are happy with at a fraction of a cost. For me, peace of mind is worth a little extra bread.

My primary machine has always been a PC. Being a graphic designer, Macs are pretty much the industry standard. That is one of many reasons I bought this iMac.

I must say, I love this computer. It took me less than 15 minutes from opening the box, unpacking the computer, plugging it in, starting it, and set up. And 10 minutes of that was taking it out of the box, taking the protective wraps off of things, etc.

The initial setup was a breeze. It automatically recognized the keyboard and mouse (both Bluetooth), easily connected to my network (after I typed in the password), and bam, we were up and running. Since I never had a Mac before, I didn’t have a backup that would put all my files on the computer, but I keep all of my files on an external hard drive anyways.

There have been a few bumps in getting used to doing certain things on the Mac compared to the PC. However, Apple Care is very helpful and helped me through alot of issues. The main thing was getting Time Machine working like I want. Still don’t have it backing up my external hard drive, but that is because it is a MS DOS format, which is a format it doesn’t recognize. Other than that, Time Machine is doing backups on its own drive. Also, for PC users, Time Machine is NOT System Restore. It is a file recovery program only. So if you delete a file, you can open Time Machine, find the file, and restore it.

Once you take the time to learn how certain things work compared to PC’s, you will figure out that there are alot of things that are just much easier on the Mac. Granted, I plan to use both Mac and PC for a while, but so far, I haven’t had to turn on my PC in several days (and I have only had the iMac for about 10 days).

Overall, it is a great machine. Feels like it is built very solid, runs fast, starts up fast, looks great in my room, the keyboard and mouse (Bluetooth) never skips a beat, the Magic Mouse was not difficult at all to start using, and overall it is great. Probably will always stick to Mac now.

It was the same first model out of four. Not only it lasted me until now, but since I bought this one few days ago, I gave my old one to my wife’s sister. I’m sure it will keep going and going for years.

Right now, it is better than ever to buy a new iMac. I remember when I bought mine, the whole line-up was good. But then they gave lower-priced iMacs much worse specs than higher-priced ones, especially in terms of video cards. So, if you wanted something good all around, you had to spend more money and buy third or even fourth one in iMac’s line-up. Not anymore. Every single one has the same RAM, all of them have descrete video cards, and even Quad-Core processors. Not only that, but they are the newest i5 Quad-Core processors, Intel Sandybridge. Even if you take a look at various tests done by different websites, they will tell you that there is not that big of a difference between iMac line-up nowadays. It’ll be about 10% or so in speed increase between this iMac and top of the line one. Also, this iMac is faster than top of the line iMac from previous generation, so yeah, it’s that good!

Like everyone are saying, don’t look at the numbers. That’s the game PC plays, and people believe them. Read comparison reviews between iMacs and PCs and you’ll see that in most tests iMacs go head to head with PCs that have twice the RAM and twice the video card and even higher clocked processors. In some tests, iMac still come ahead.

Besides nice specs, iMac has a really good screen. Yes, it is 21.5-inch, but is is beautiful. People might say that you can buy all-in-one from Dell with 23-inch screen. Again, those are numbers, and also, Dell’s specs are a joke. iMac has a high quality screen, extremely accurate colors, which is perfect for anything, especially photography and editing, specifically color-correction. And just to show you where those two companies stand, Apple went for higher resolution on their 21.5-inch display, because they’re about quality. Dell on the other hand, chose to have the same resolution on a 23-inch display, because for them it’s more important to say that their display is bigger, rather than talk about quality. Same with HP, just recently they chose USB 3.0 over Thunderbolt. It just shows how low quality they are to choose already outdated technology for their machines. Yeah, we all might have to wait for a month or two for Thunderbolt accessories to become available, but it’s a fair price to pay for the fastest of the fast.

iMac itself is a piece of art. There are no rough edges from all the cheap plastic, it’s just two pieces, aluminum enclosure and a piece of glass on the front. All ports are nice and neat and it does come with a wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse. Both are very comfortable.

As usual it comes with iLife, so it is ready for photos with iPhoto, movies with iMovie, creating music with GarageBand, creating DVDs with iDVD and creating websites with iWeb. Also, sometime during this Summer, new Operating System is coming out, but it will be a cheap upgrade for those who want it, it’s not like buying Windows and choosing between 10 different options, all at the premium price. With Mac, you get just one OS, which has everything. Also, for all of you out there who like to edit, Final Cut Pro X is coming out this Summer as well, in June, unless if they’ll move it to a later date. It will go down in price from $999 to just $299. So, it’ll be an excellent editing machine.

I also have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, via BootCamp, to play games. In Windows everything is noticeably slower. Not only that, but as usual, Mac came with everything out of the box, I can zip/unzip files, view PDFs and so on. Windows doesn’t have any of that. I would have to download all of those programs to be able to fully use my computer. Game-wise, I think it’s pretty good. I play Mafia II on all high settings and it runs just fine. Let me remind you that although Mafia II is not the latest game ever, but it does recommend Intel Quad-Core 2.5Ghz, 3GB or more for RAM, and most importantly, 1GB for a video card. Like I said I have all setting on high with 1920×1080 resolution. The only setting that makes it somewhat slow is when I turn on anti-aliasing. On one of the levels it was a little slow, so I put Shadow Quality on medium and it was fine. After completing the level I turned it on high again.

**ALSO, for all of you GAMERS out there, I found a pretty cool website that shows how well different video cards can handle games. It’s not necessarily Mac related, just video cards in general. Amazon doesn’t let you to post links to websites, so, I just put it in the first comment. Just to give you an idea, the site says that Crysis 2 plays good on High settings, Call of Duty: Black Ops plays good even on Ultra settings, Metro 2033 plays good on Medium settings. You can check out the rest**

Overall, this is the best all-in-one you can find and one of the best Desktops a money can buy.

If you don’t like Apple or still think it is overpriced, do that. Find a Desktop/All-in-one with Sandybridge Quad-Core processor and around 6GB to 8GB of RAM and 512MB to 1GB video card. Add a nice screen to it, full HD, no less than 1920×1080. Add wireless keyboard and a wireless mouse. Don’t forget bluetooth and Wi-fi connectivity. Make sure it has Windows 7 Professional for all of the features, or maybe even Ultimate. Also, make sure all 5 of iLife-equivallent programs are present. And see the price for yourself. I am not even going to bring up the ease of set-up and that iMac is only one piece of aluminum and one piece of glass. Because no PC will match it. You have to settle for million pieces of plastic holding your computer together.

Over the years, as they added items to their product line, so I added their products to my collection. As a sample, I believe I have owned at one point or another, Case Logic cassette cases, CD & DVD cases, CD player cases, Zip Drive cases, trunk organizers, and more. I’m looking around my home office and I can spot several of their products and I bet you do too. Case Logic’s 13.3 Laptop Sleeve (LAPS-113) is one of many sleeves that Case Logic makes and it just might be the perfect protective, no frills sleeve for your 13.3-inch or smaller laptop.

PROS:
- No nonsense, sleek design
- 6mm EVA foam padding
- Smooth gliding zipper
- Protective lip prevents damage from zipper

CONS:
- Slight rubbery odor

I define my perfect laptop sleeve to be one that has no handles, pockets, zippers, or bulk. What I want out of a sleeve, is a relatively form-fitting sleeve that I can then toss into one of my other bags, like my Timbuk2 messenger bag or my JanSport backpack. The LAPS-113 hit each of my requirements perfectly, except for the inclusion of a zipper. Though, as you’ll soon see, the zipper turned out to be a neutral feature for me, not a negative one.

PROTECTION
First and foremost, the LAPS-113 will protect your laptop from scratches. The exterior and interior materials are made out of 100% polyester. What makes the LAPS-113 stand out from many similar sleeves is the fact that it actually has some worthwhile padding to protect your laptop from impact. It is surrounded by a 6mm layer of EVA foam which feels a lot like memory foam. This thin layer provides enough protection that I feel very comfortable with it in my aforementioned bags. The sides also have a woven webbing that provides a protective texture as well as making it look attractive. As I mentioned before, I did not like the idea of a zipper on a laptop sleeve because I fear scratching my laptop with it. Fortunately, the Case Logic LAPS-113 has a protective lip around the zipper teeth. Essentially, when you begin to zip the the sleeve shut, the protective lip folds down over the laptop so that it is protected from coming in contact with the zipper teeth.

USAGE & SIZE
The smooth gliding zipper runs across the entire top of the sleeve and about an inch down the sides. It is very easy to insert and remove my laptop from the LAPS-113. When inside my messenger bag, I can remove my laptop without having to remove the entire sleeve from the bag. The Case Logic LAPS-113 laptop sleeve is listed as a 13.3-inch appropriate sleeve. The internal dimensions are 13in x 9.1in x 1.1in and weighs just 6 ounces. The new 13-inch Macbook Pro is listed as 12.78in x 8.94in x 0.95in, so the sleeve should be perfect. However, I have a 12.1-inch Google Chrome Cr-48 notebook and that too fit amazingly well. As my readers probably know already, I LOVE Timbuk2 products but I think the LAPS-113 just usurped my Timbuk2 sleeve as the sleeve my Cr-48 will live in. All you game developers who got their free Cr-48 from the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco might want to try the LAPS-113 for your brand new toy. To top it off, the LAPS-113 comes in three colors-black, red, and tannin (a sort of red wine, brown mixture). I also want to mention that the sleeve does give off a slight rubbery odor at first, but fades away after a few days. I know that some people are highly sensitive to smell so I just wanted to mention it for their sake.

CONCLUSION
There are plenty of folks out there who want a sleeve that has enough padding for better impact protection. The Case Logic LAPS-113 is able to do that without adding significant bulk in a simple and attractive design. I recommend it for 13-inch Macbook Pro users and Google Chrome Cr-48 users alike.

Fritz
I have been searching for a decent and inexpensive slip case to hold my Apple MacBook Air. Outside of traveling 70 miles to the nearest Apple Store, it’s been hard to find what I need.

I was looking tor something to protect and transport my 13 inch MacBook Air. Most cases seem to be designed for 15 or 16 inch notebooks. On the other end of the spectrum, cases are designed for 10 inch netbooks. Neither was well suited for the Air’s svelt but unusual size. It sits right in the middle in a gulf between these two primary case sizes. That’s why I was so pleased to see Case Logic come out with a product specifically designed for the MacBook Air and similar sized devices.

I’m happy to say that tte Case Logic LAPS-113 doesn’t disappoint. It fits the larger size MacBook Air like a glove and would probably work as well for any similar sized Mac or PC notebook.

A word of caution, though. This product is a sleeve, not a case. It is intended for slipping a notebook into it for protecton and transport. As such there are pockets or holders for mice, USB devices, cables or power supplies. if you need that capability then you will need to look elsewhere. However, for what it was intended to do, the Case Logic LAPS-113 does its job quite well.

I am delighted that it also provides some aesthetic satisfaction. The color is a solid inky black, with no lighter threads in the design. The Case Logic logo on the front is small, with the yellow-orange square of half-sun that pops out stylishly and yet is unobtrusive. The woven webbing on the sides is a nice nifty touch.

The top-loading zipper–which is a primary feature for me in determining quality–is sturdy and smooth, and slides like buttah from one side to the other. It won’t scratch your laptop because it has a protective lip. The 6 millimeter foam padding feels substantial and secure, and my laptop slips in easily, like a card in an envelope. It fits snugly but not too tightly, either.

External dimensions are 14 x 1.1 x 10″ and internal dimensions are 13 x 1.1 x 9.1″ The exterior and lining is made of 100% polyester.

The attached description card says “25 Years Quality Guarantee.”

Highly recommended to protect your 13″ laptop.

Markell
I gave the printer five stars, because of price point (at 89.00, the ability to print wirelessly and with such a good quality printer is amazing) and because the printer has worked seamlessly once it was set up. Also, because HP clearly cares enough to add (not so) little touches such as:

1. Including the USB cable with the printer (Canon does not do this, from what I remember).

2. Including (this is amazing) the actual cartridges with the printer instead of “starter” cartridges that print maybe fifty sheets before conking out. Truthfully, you have to factor that into the price of these “cheaper” printers and realize that you have to tack on another thirty or more dollars to the price to pay for decent cartridges. With the ones supplied, I should be able to print at least 400 pages of black and white letters, email, etc. befor replacing the black cartridge.

3. If, like most of us looking for a small business (or home business) printer, there is the option to use an extended black cartridge which will give you even more pages between changes. This wouldn’t be so important for a photo printer, but for what it is (it’s called an “Officejet,” remember) this is a wonderful feature.

4. The printer goes into standby mode and “wakes up” when needed. Perhaps all new printers do this (my last printer was from a few years ago) but I find this a great feature.

Some may be put off by the form factor – this is not a small printer and takes up a fair amount of desk space. Also, the majority of the plastic sides are in white, (or putty, I suppose) which I have a feeling will show dirt and smudges worse than a silver or black model.

Finally, let’s get to the frustrating elements. As I’ve said, none of these were bad enough for me to lower the five star rating, but they were a little annoying:

1. (this is trivial but if it saves someone else the headache, it’s worth mentioning) – the set up instructions included in the box clearly show a plastic back panel that looks to be inserted when one is not using the black duplex printing back that comes with this unit. Duplex printing means the ability to print on both sides of the page, and the black plastic back is called “optional” in the instructions. Well, upon unpacking the printer I couldn’t find the other panel anywhere in the box or on the printer -although it was clearly seen in the picture. I called HP and, as I surmised, the printer does NOT come with this flat back panel. You LEAVE the black duplex printing back (which sticks out in a bump from the back) in the printer all the time. The pictures in the instructions were for the NON-WIRELESS version of the printer. It would have been nice if someone had mentioned that the wireless printer ONLY comes with the black back.

2. It takes the printer up to ten minutes to set itself up when you turn it on for the first time. This is clearly marked in the instructions, but if you don’t notice it, you might think something is wrong as you wait…and wait…and wait…for it to print that magical first test page. NOTHING IS WRONG. Have patience.

3. As others have noted, the software is ridiculously slow to install. I will say that when I installed it in our XP (the second computer) it took a fraction of the time, so perhaps this is a Vista issue. But it took (I’m not kidding) forty-five minutes to load. I kept thinking it was hanging, but then it would inch foward another 1% and chug along. I have NEVER had software take this long to load since the DOS days! Oh, and make sure you disable your anit-virus software before you load it. I didn’t and it seemed to make it crash the first time I tried to install it. (obviously turn back your anti-virus software after installation).

The GOOD NEWS: Once installed, it found the router immediately and both computers found the printer with no problems whatsoever. To have a wireless printer that my wife can print her recipes without having to bother me or I can print without taking up a valuable USB slot on my laptop is fantastic. And the quality is great for basic office chores.

I have NO idea if it will last, but as of now, I’m am really delighted to have a wireless printer with so many features at thie price point.

Out of the box this HP has proven to be a disappointment as to the quality of the product and the print results.

The printer has a fairly large footprint requiring more space than similar Canon and Epson printers I’ve used. It is extremely noisy and grinds loudly through the print cycles particularly when a change is made in the type of document being created. As with most inkjet printers the ink tanks are quite costly and for this printer availability appears limited at some of the more common resources.

Comparing the quality of the photos run on both this printer and an older Epson Stylus Photo R200 I have the Epson creates a much superior finished photo on photo paper. The same is true when printing photos on plain paper – as one might do in a newsletter. The HP produced pictures that were less sharp and the colors were muddy.

Text printing is reasonably acceptable. The documentation except for a “how to” sheet for set up is very minimal and you have to go to the accompanying CD to get more info or visit HP’s web site. While the printer has convenient buttons and lights to provide ink status and basic operations and a nice design the output falls short of expectations.

While the initial price is attractive, with the manufacture’s ink so pricy it quickly becomes an expensive printer. The printer does not come with any connecting cords other than the AC power cord and box that coverts it to a lower voltage, so expect to have to purchase a USB cable unless you are fortunate enough to already have the style required.

This one goes back. For photos on any type paper seems Epson is a better choice in inkjet printers.

Barclay
I looked at several “simple” printers (i.e. not the multipurpose printers with scanners and etc.). The HP6000 Officejet seemed to be a good deal from the reviews that I read.

The printer was very easy to set up as a wireless printer, taking about 1/2 hour from opening the box to printing the first test page. I’ve printed Avery labels, Avery cards and 24 pound paper without any problems such as jamming or feeding more than one sheet at a time. The print speed is acceptable and depends somewhat on the optional resolution selected – the finer the resolution the slower it prints, “Normal” works just fine for my printing.HP Officejet 6000 Wireless Color Inkjet Printer (C9295A#B1H)

The ink cartridges that shipped with the printer are a disappointment – one week of not much printing and I already need the Yellow and Magenta cartridges. I’ve ordered the “extra” capacity (should be the only choice) cartridges. Hopwfully these ink cartridges will last much longer.

All in all, I’m pleased that I can print from any of our in-house computers. The ONLY drawback to that is that we have to go to where the printer is – DUH.

Right now I am at 95% charging so I can’t tell you about the times but when i unplugged it at 94% it was at about 8 hours remaining. This is one of the best investments you can make for your netbook. It does make your netbook slightly slant upward though, so if you don’t want that (I like it personally) then don’t get this. Otherwise, it’s a great investment and by the way no other nine cell battery isn’t going to make it slant upward. Also BrilliantStore always ships right away and you get it sooner than expected delivery date.

The laptop (an MSI Wind 100) won’t charge the battery at all (battery indicator blinks orange), and the laptop will immediately shut down if you pull the power cord when this battery is attached.

I tried contacting the seller through Amazon’s standard channels, but have yet to receive a response (over two weeks after the complaint). The only thing left to do is call their phone number. The chances of their honoring the mentioned 1-year warranty seem rather bleak. I’d recommend avoiding both this product and the seller.

Imagine my surprise when I could get so much battery (3 times more power than the original) for so little money. I’ve had this battery installed for over a month now and am really pleased. It does bump up the back of the computer so that it sits at a bit of an angle, but it actually makes it easier to type on. The battery fits snugly and there were no issues with shipping.

11 of 12 people found the following review helpful.
Wonderful, complex, not AE
By Wayne Folta
Shake’s extremely customizable, powerful, and complex. I’m totally loving it.

First, it is NOT a direct substitute for Adobe’s After Effects (AE). It has primitive text handling abilities, you cannot simply drop files into layers and drag them around to animate them, and it has no particle systems, etc. Fortunately, Apple’s Motion software nicely complements Shake and handles these tasks well.

Second, Shake’s paradigm is very different from AE’s in many ways, from the way Shake’s timeline works and feels to the way a project’s resolution is determined, from the node-based processing to it’s command-line capability. You can use expressions, as in AE, but you can also create macros which then appear as if they were built-in filters/effects. (In fact, quite a few “built-in” effects are actually macros.) And that is one of the great strengths of Shake: with time and lots of learning and thinking, you can turn Shake into an application that’s almost designed for your workflow.

Shake’s so big that it’s impossible to cover it all. It includes two brand-name keyers (Primatte and Keylight) plus other keying tools. It has a rotoshape node that can contain multiple bezier-curved, animated (or not) matte shapes. It has a stroke-based paint/clone node. It has traditional tracker and stabilization nodes as well as a flow-based analysis node for stabilization (either lock-down or just smoothing). It has multiple warping nodes (formula-based, spline-based, as well as one specialized for lens distortion) and a morphing node. It has a node to stitch together multiple still or moving background panoramas. It has a boatload of color correction nodes. It has a 3D multi-plane node (though they do not include lights and do not handle plane intersection) as well as a 2D multi-layer node that provides layer transfer modes between layers.

You have full control over transformations of video on input, including resizing, de-interlacing, and retiming, including a flow-analysis retiming which can create incredible slo-mo footage that you simply cannot create with frame-blending (which is another option, if you wish).

It’s node-based approach lets you simply accomplish things that would take all kinds of crazy comp nesting in AE (if you could figure out how to do it at all in AE). Shake’s timeline displays image/movie “layers” but they are only used for positioning in time — all processing/compositing/layering is accomplished by nodes and how they are linked together, not by what layer appears on top in the timeline. Each input on a node (there can be more than one, depending on what the node does) can only accept a single input, but each output can be split off in as many directions as you want. Take a node’s output and split it off to four different sets of nodes for procesing and eventual recombination. (Which would require at least four nested comps to achieve in AE.)

Any group of nodes you wire together can be collapsed into a group and you can specify what controls from the nodes inside the group are visible outside of the group. If you find yourself doing this often, you can save the group as a macro, which will then appear alongside all the other built-in nodes in their various palettes.

You do not set a “comp size” in Shake. The size of the comp depends on the sizes of the elements you put into it, the nodes you use to process them, and the point in processing where you insert file-out nodes. (You can have multiple file-out nodes in a node tree to render out the processed image at that point in processing.) This flexibility can be a little disturbing at first, but in the end it works like most of the rest of Shake: it takes more thought to set up, but once you’ve done it once and have your template file or macro setup, it’s as if you’d built a custom preference/feature.

You can have multiple viewers, each of which has an A/B tab and you can load the output of different nodes into each tab and flip between them, or drag/fade between them. Another example of Shake’s customizability: you can create multiple macros and choose among them (or have none) to customize the look of each viewer. Add safe zone marks, change the gamma, tint safe zones instead of making lines… whatever you can do with Shake nodes you can do to your viewer window.

OK, that only hits the major points that come to mind at midnight. I didn’t get to the Curves editor, the incredible color pickers, keyboard shortcuts, it’s heavy-duty proxy/update system, commandline use, or its ability to fully use multiple CPUs. (I’ve found AE often leaves a substantial portion of multiple CPU’s unused.)

Incredible power and customizability. But again, if you’re moving up from AE don’t expect it to be a quick or easy process. Your instincts will be wrong and you will go about things in the wrong way, even if you conceptually understand node-orientation. And, again, for quick throw-layers-in, set transfer-modes, and setup some quick keyframe jobs AE will be faster than Shake. (Though as long as the files are reaonable-sized, Motion will be faster than AE. Motion doesn’t like working on layers or comps that exceed 2K x 2K in resolution, though.) If you want nice text (pair-wise kerning, etc), you’ll need to use Motion to make it, then bring it into Shake.

I give it 5 stars. (P.S. paid-for upgrades are not cheap. See the Apple website under Shake for the price to upgrade to the current version (4.0). I believe this is what you’d pay for a yearly support contract, which would give you support and all upgrades in that year free of charge.)

At that note, this is a very professional video production tool, and this template may not be feasible for the amateur videographer. This software was the main interface used to create the newest King Kong; just to give you an idea of the special effects abilities of this superb product. This product is expensive for a reason. You pay for quality and capability.

I bought it for my 15.6 inch laptop and it fits well. I can also carry other stuff in the same bag. I tried fitting in my 17 inch laptop in this bag and it fit perfectly. Initially I was thinking of carrying one laptop bag and one hand bag but now with this bag, I dont have to worry about carrying other one. Only concern I have is the height of the bag as it looks big.

It fits comfortably in its’ place. The velcro holds it in place and there’s still room for my other things. When I opened my amazon box my dad actually though it was real leather. It’s an awesome bag, it’s veryyyyyy pink inside, but I didn’t want the other colors, so I’ll manage lol. It’s bigger than most bags but I’m 5’9 and I think it’s more comfortable than most of my other purses.

Carter
This is a wonderful ladies’ laptop bag! I returned mine because I thought it too big for my petite size. Well I have a bag now that is not as big, but it doesn’t hold half as much as this one would have. On the inside it has I believe 3 loops for pens/pencils, about 3-4 slots for ID, credit cards, and/or business cards, fits a laptop of screen size 15.6″ perfectly, and I believe it would hold up to the 16″ size as well (as stated). I bought the one with a pretty purple liner in it. It has great padding for laptop, has roome for external mouse, flash drive, mouse pad, a 4port hub, a chill mat, and more. Could easily fit all of that and files with no problem. The 2 handle straps are sturdy and ajustable by one belt like secure buckle; which was perfect for me to have on the last hole because I am a full time student who carries the laptop bag, a regular purse, and of course my backpack. I believe I could have used this as an all-in-one bag. It definitely would have held my essentials from my purse, along with everything I listed before, and my school book and notebook. It is an amazing bag, don’t let the size bother you if you are petite because again this can be used as an all-in-one bag. Wish I would have kept it =0(. Also very nice soft leather so flexable to move around, but not so much as to bend files. It is the perfect ladies’ laptop bag, definitely A+++++.

Only 2 days and they were shipped from KS and I live in Nevada.
I popped the cartridges in, the printer ran the alignment page and everything printed perfectly.
No spots, no streaks, perfect!
I have an older HP 960 Inkjet printer and I will recommend this company, Sophiaglobal, to all my friends.
Thanks for a great product.

Inks dry to slightly dull so using glossy paper gives the impression of the ink being ON the paper rather than IN the paper as do the HP 45 & 78 cartridges. However the results are very comparable to the the Epson DURABrite Ultra inks which are used in the Workforce and Stylus series which are not photo quality either.
